U.S. Deputy Game Warden badge from the Department of Agriculture (DOA) when the Service was part of DOA. This badge may be very significant, it dates back to 1919-1939, and is bent and riddled with 6 shotgun pellets. It may have been the badge of Edgar Lindgren, the first Service law enforcement officer to be killed in line of duty. In 1922, Lindgren approached three men for shooting a bittern out of season and asked for their hunting licenses. In return he was hit by a shotugn blast. Two of the hunters shot him in point blank range as he lay disarmed and bleeding on the ground. No records of his badge number can be found, but the badge has all the right hallmarks.
