Types of Data Collection. Population Surveys Surveys conducted to count the number of individuals in a population, provides information on the growth, decline, or stability of a species. Movement Tracks where individuals move throughout their range. Breeding Surveys Biologists check for egg masses in the environment as an indicator of reproduction. Genetic Sampling Biologists take samples to test for the genetic diversity of a population.
