The Tatanka Wind Farm is the largest renewable-energy project in North and South Dakota, sitting on approximately 14,080 acres, set on the Missouri Coteau. Wind conditions in the Tatanka region are optimal for wind-energy generation. This land is highly productive to waterfowl and other prairie species because of its inact native grasslands, abundance of wetlands, and inaccessibility by road.
