Stream Crossing Bank Guidance

Something temporarily or permanently constructed, built, or placed; and constructed of natural or manufactured parts including, but not limited to, a building, shed, cabin, porch, bridge, walkway, stair steps, sign, landing, platform, dock, rack, fence, telecommunication device, antennae, fish cleaning table, satellite dish/mount, or well head.

that are connected to the adjacent natural stream banks upstream and downstream of the crossing.  These constructed stream banks are designed to help focus stream flows during low flows and to protect the footings or abutments of the crossing structure.  These banks are also designed to facilitate passage of wildlife species that typically travel along and above stream banks, rather than within the stream itself, without the need to move up onto the roadway surface where vehicle collisions may happen.
Experience has shown that this document is useful to have out in the field during project construction to help explain construction techniques and to illustrate what well-constructed and connected stream banks look like on-the-ground
