The new setback levee in Hamilton City created a larger floodplain that allows the Sacramento River to flow more naturally during floods and reduces the risk to the town. State, federal, city and county agencies and private organizations came together to build setback levees on the outside perimeter of the orchards, and native tree saplings were planted where fruit trees used to grow.
