PEFA Falconry Take Draft Environmental Assessment

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service or we) has completed a draft environmental assessment (EA) on take of peregrine falcons from the wild for use in falconry. This draft EA is intended to replace the 2008 final EA on take of peregrine falcons from the wild for use in falconry. We have reviewed recent data and are proposing to revise the take limits for peregrine falcons for use in falconry. The draft EA analyzes a range of management alternatives for take of peregrine falcons for use in falconry. The analysis provided in the draft EA is intended to inform the public of the proposed action and alternatives; and disclose the direct, indirect, and cumulative environmental effects of the proposed action and each of the alternatives. We invite the public to comment on the draft EA.

The draft EA is available for public review at https://www.fws.gov/library/collections/peregrine-falconry-ea. The website also provides instructions on how to submit comments on the draft EA. All comments must be received no later than May 11, 2026.
