Nevin Holmberg started with the Fish and Wildlife Service at the Division of River Basin Studies in Sacramento, transferred to Corona Del Mar to the Southern California Field Office for River Basin Studies and from there went to several different offices including: Atlanta Regional Office, Washington D.C. in the Ecological Services Office, Honolulu to the Ecological Services Office, Greenbay Wisconsin as a field supervisor, back to Washington D.C. as chef of the branch of Federal Permits and Licenses in the Division of Ecological Services and finally to Juneau, Alaska as field supervisor for Ecological Services.
