A student enrolled in WLD2139 Invasive Plant Management, a course offered at the USFWS National Conservation Training Center removes jetbead, an invasive exotic shrub from Asia most likely spread from landscape plantings. Notice the leaves are just starting to appear on these young shrubs. Like many invasive plants, it gets a head start on the native ones by leafing out early. The tool being used is a PULASKI, normally used for wildland firefighting but also works well for grubbing out plants. All seeds or seed-bearing jetbead were bagged for removal.
