About this Collection

The Interim Wind Guidance (and associated documents) provides a strategy that will allow companies to operate and monitor for northern long-eared bats in a manner where take is not reasonably certain to occur. The guidance includes a curtailment strategy (i.e., reduction in electricity generation) at lower wind speeds when bats are migrating. UPDATE (as of 3/9/2024): We are extending the interim northern long-eared bat tools and guidance for your use until final tools are issued this summer. On or around April 1, 2024, the Service intends to share a draft of the new tools and guidance documents for interested parties to preview.
