Special Post-Season Junior Waterfowl Hunt

The post-season Junior Hunt takes place the first weekend in February throughout the Balance of the State on accessible private property and public lands for eligible hunters. Qualifying hunters include individuals 15 years of age and under. The purpose of the Junior Hunt is to provide mentoring opportunities for young hunters, where they can gain valuable experience with hunting techniques, safety, regulations, and ethics.

An adult at least 18 years of age must accompany junior hunters.  Adults cannot hunt with juniors; their role is to guide and supervise the hunt. Adults are responsible for the safety of junior hunters and for adhering to state regulations.

The Refuge hunt fee is waived for this hunt.  Species and daily bag limits are the same as the regular duck season (refer to CDFW hunt regulations).

The following licensing and validations are required to participate in this hunt:

Hunting License:  Youth 15 year of age and under must have a Junior Hunting License.

Federal Duck Stamp:  Not required for youth 15 years of age and under. 

California Duck Validation:  Not required for youth 15 years of age and under. 

Harvest Information Program (HIP) Validation:  Required for all hunters, regardless of age.
