Upland game hunting and big game hunting were expanded in 2015. Many young hunters will remember Bayou Cocodrie NWR as the place they killed their first deer. The refuge also has two mobility impaired wheelchair-accessible hunt blinds that can be reserved in advance. The refuge has developed a reputation for producing large deer; it offers archery and muzzleloader seasons. Rabbit and squirrel hunts are also offered. Bayou Cocodrie, which contains some of the least disturbed timber in the Mississippi delta, is broken into four management units for hunting purposes.
