Decades of effort by dedicated partners improved the status of the Kirtland's warbler, a songbird that nests in jack pine stands in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ontario, Canada. Due to the species' remarkable recovery, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed the bird from Endangered Species Act protection in 2019.
