National wildlife refuges offer us all a chance to unplug from the stresses of daily life and reconnect with our natural surroundings. 

Activities

Wolf Island NWR is only accessible by boat, and visitors must provide their own transportation. The navigable waterways throughout the refuge are open to recreational activities such as fishing, crabbing, and boating. All refuge uplands, including the beach and marshes, are closed to the public to provide sanctuary to shorebirds. Wildlife obersvation and photography are possible from boats.

Wolf Island NWR is one of seven refuges administered by the Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex which is headquartered at the Savannah NWR Visitor Center located in Hardeeville, South Carolina.

Driving Directions

Wolf Island NWR is a barrier island and is only accessible by boat.  Only the saltwater surrounding the refuge is open for activities such as wildlife observation and fishing.  All refuge uplands, marshes, and beaches are closed to all public use.
