If you enjoy getting outdoors and looking for wildlife, consider a visit to your nearest Waterfowl Production Area! Spring (mid-April – May) and fall (Sep-Oct) migration are the peak times to observe large varieties and concentrations of birds. WPAs offer birders opportunities to see many wetland and grassland species.  The Glacial Lakes and Prairies Birding Trail highlights some of these areas. Native prairies and wetlands are also great places to look for butterflies or dragonflies. Keep your eyes open for frogs, snakes, turtles and many other types of wildlife. Remember to be respectful of wild animals and their habitats.
