Programs take place at the refuge visitor center, (2591 Whitehall Neck Rd. Smyrna, DE) are free and no registration is necessary unless otherwise specified. To request a reasonable accommodation please call the Refuge office at (302) 653-9345 two weeks before the event.
Saturday 08/29/2026 10:00am Shorebird Program
Eileen McLellan will review post breeding shorebirds as they migrate south through Delaware. This program will include a short classroom review of shorebird species. Then the class will go outside along the refuge Auto Tour and ID birds. All birding skill levels invited.
Sunday 09/13/2026 12:00pm Tri State Bird Rescue, Program Research Presentation
Maria Maiura, with Tri State Bird Rescue, will share with us some of the important research gathered on the bird species brought to them. In addition, she will explain the important techniques they have developed working with birds affected by oil spills.
Saturday 09/26/2026 2:00pm Fall Monarch Butterfly Program
Terry Willis will present his popular Monarch Butterfly program, reviewing the life cycle and amazing migration of this refuge visitor each year. If possible, the program will include butterfly tagging (weather backup program date October 3rd, 2:00pm)
