A man waist deep in water holding a silver fish and his fishing rod

Fishing in the Nisqually River Delta is limited to boats access only. There is no bank fishing in the estuary, along McAllister Creek, and the Nisqually River is not available on the refuge. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s regulations and requirements apply to all fishing activity.

Fishers should reference signs posted in the Delta indicating no fishing within the Refuge’s sanctuary (estuary restoration area) between the Nisqually River and the west side of the Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk. The Research Natural Area is closed to consumptive activities and fishing is not permitted throughout the year.

The nearest boat launch is Luhr’s Landing, at the mouth of McAllister Creek on the west side of the Delta. This site is managed by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and requires their Discover Pass.
