About Kate O'Brien

Kate O'Brien is the lead Wildlife Biologist at Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Kate holds a Master's of Wildlife Ecology and has a B.A. in Communications. She has been employed in the field of wildlife ecology and conservation for over twenty five years and has overseen the biological program at Rachel Carson refuge for almost twenty years. Before working for Refuges she worked as a seasonal employee for National Marine Fisheries, Ecological Services, Army Corps of Engineers, as well as for an environmental law firm.  Kate particularly enjoys working on habitat restoration projects, conserving threatened and endangered wildlife, teaching people about the natural world, and assisting communities and private landowners with on-the-ground conservation projects.
