Visit Us
Every year, thousands of visitors flock to Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge to enjoy the wide, sandy beach and warm, clear waters in a natural setting. To avoid disturbing nesting leatherback sea turtles, the beach is closed to the public from roughly mid-April to August annually. In addition, thousands of more visitors participate in the educational experience of guided sea turtle nesting and hatching observation.
Other Facilities in the Complex
Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge is part of the Caribbean Islands National Wildlife Refuge Complex, which consists of nine unique refuges, including Sandy Point, Green Cay, and Buck Island NWRs located in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each refuge plays a vital role in conserving the Caribbean's distinctive endemic species and natural resources. Together, we work tirelessly to protect the rich biodiversity that makes the Caribbean truly special.
