Three people walking on a gravel trail.

Trails throughout the refuge take you near ponds, lakes, rivers, along meadows and below thick tree canopies. With nearly 20 miles of foot path and gravel roads can be explored.

Please remember to stay on trails at all times, know what time the refuge will be closing on your visit day, and pack out all waste.

Trails at South Tract are open to foot traffic only. During the fall and winter some trails close for hunting. See trail map

At North Tract many trails are open to foot traffic, horses and bicycles. Trail entrances are marked to indicate permissible usages. Visitors can also refer to the trail map. Guests are required to register at the Visitor Information Station and acknowledge the potential risks of unexploded ordnances (UXO) found in the area.

Many areas of North Tract close for hunting during the fall, winter, and spring. For your safety, please check in at the Visitor Information Station and follow all posted warning and closed-area signs. During hunting season most areas open on Sundays.
