Law Enforcement

Federal wildlife officers perform many different duties as a part of their daily activities. They assist with search and rescue, wildfires, refuge hunts, and general security for the refuge and special events.

To report a refuge law enforcement violation please callFWC dispatch at (407) 275-4150 extension 7 and request an US FWS officer respond. Please provide as much information as possible, i.e. license plate number, color and/or make model of the vehicle, description of individuals, etc. In case of an emergency dial (321) 867-7911.

Alternatively, the National Wildlife Refuge System TIPs hotline is an effective means of reporting violations occurring on any National Wildlife Refuge.

  • The TIPs line consists of a dedicated phone line and email address for reporting refuge violations.
  • The hotline and e-mail are monitored Monday-Friday from 8 AM until 4:30 PM, but can be used 24/7
  • By phone: 1-844-FWS-TIPS (397-8477)
  • By email: nwr_tips@fws.gov

To report fish, wildlife, boating, or environmental law violations in Florida not on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge call 888-404-FWCC (3922). Cell phone users can reach FWC at *FWC or #FWC, depending on your service provider.
