Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge maintains two primitive campgrounds, Crook and Swinging Bridge. Both campgrounds are a short distance from locations which offer hiking, hunting, fishing, and wildlife observation. The campgrounds and associated facilities are open throughout the year. Camping is free and we do not take campsite reservations; all campsites are first-come first-served to all visitors.
Crook campground is located along the southeast end of the Wildlife Drive and includes pit toilets, fire rings, a boat ramp, and shade trees.
Swinging Bridge campground lies directly along the Green River at the west end of the Wildlife Drive. Amenities include fire rings, pit toilets, a boat ramp, and a livestock corral. The Swinging Bridge is single-lane with a maximum weight capacity of 20 tons, and the narrowest width for vehicles to pass is 8'6".
- Horses are not permitted in campgrounds. Horses may be kept in the Swinging Bridge corrals if they are not in use by local ranchers. Hay must be certified weed-free to minimize further introduction of invasive plants on the Refuge.
- Camping inside the Refuge is allowed only at designated sites within these two campgrounds. Camping is limited to 14 days within a 28-day period. Dispersed camping is prohibited within the Refuge. Camping along the river and/or on sandbars is prohibited.
- To protect the solitude of the Refuge, the use of generators is only allowed between the hours of 7am to 10pm.
- Campfires should never be left unattended and must be completely extinguished prior to your departure. Please bring your own firewood as firewood collection within the Refuge is prohibited. Campfires are allowed only in the metal fire rings provided at the campgrounds
- Trash disposal is not provided. Visitors must take their trash with them when leaving the Refuge.
- Potable water is not available.
- Pets must be confined or leashed at all times (except hunting dogs when participating in a legal hunt).
- No overnight parking except for people camping at established campsites. Vehicles parked overnight will be towed at the owner's expense.
- No commercial guide and/or outfitting allowed on the Refuge.
