FWS Heavy Equipment Instructor Train-the-Trainer

COURSE SESSION

TARGET AUDIENCE: FWS EMPLOYEES / AFFILIATED PERSONNEL ONLY who operates Service-owned, leased, or rented heavy equipment and would like to become a Heavy Equipment Safety Instructor. Contact your appropriate Regional Heavy Equipment Coordinator to register for the course. SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES: Using a "Train the Trainer" delivery format to provide the students with the information and techniques for training others to perform safe heavy equipment operation. Topics include: Service policy, FWS provided training material and how they are to be used in a training environment, use of technology during equipment training, machine operation safety, applications, limitations, systems, service schedules, and warning signs. Participants will leave with practical knowledge and skills to deliver the Services Heavy Equipment Safety Training program in a consistent format as required by Service policy. Heavy Equipment Safety Instructor refresher course is required 3-years after completion of this course in order to maintain authorization to instruct. PREREQUISITE: Completion of FWS-LED5109 Design and Delivering a Training Session when course is available in addition to providing the Regional Heavy Equipment Coordinator with documentation outlined in the "Heavy Equipment and Off-Road Utility Vehicle Safety Training Handbook."
