Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge is currently looking for dedicated RV volunteers to join our team for a three-day, eight-hour shift each week. In this role, you’ll serve as a welcoming presence for visitors by providing orientation, interpretation, and answering questions about the refuge. From sharing insights on local natural and cultural resources to covering safety protocols, rules, recreational opportunities, and area services, your contributions will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visitor experience.
Beyond engaging with guests, you’ll assist staff in vital operations and facility maintenance. Responsibilities include cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash bins, keeping the refuge free of litter, removing invasive species, maintaining trails, handling clerical tasks, and supporting a range of other projects suited to your skills. Occasionally, you may be invited to lend a hand at special events, both within the refuge grounds and at off-site locations. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while exploring the beauty and diversity of Laguna Atascosa NWR.
