All Russell County Schools’ 4th grade students from Salem Elementary, Russell Springs Elementary, and Jamestown Elementary visited the hatchery for a full day of learning and fun! More than 200 students and their teachers explored 10 interactive learning stations, each focused on a unique topic in science and conservation. Throughout the day, students discovered:
• How to make thread from rabbit fur
• The importance of bees and pollination
• Animals native to Kentucky
• Pollution and its impact
• Water quality monitoring
• Composting and recycling
• Making soap from goats' milk
• Water food webs
• The trout life cycle
The hands‑on activities kept students engaged from start to finish, sparking curiosity and helping them connect with the natural world around them.
A huge thank‑you to our amazing partners and volunteers whose support made this event possible. Your dedication helps us create meaningful outdoor learning experiences for our community’s youth. At Wolf Creek, we take great pride in community involvement, and events like Outdoor Adventure Day allow us to fully support the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—connecting people with nature and inspiring future conservationists.
