Marine Center Construction Begins

After 13 years of planning and preparation, construction began Monday, May 6, on the Marine Center, an education, research and visitor facility to be built on the Sterling Highway in downtown Homer. Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer signed a contract with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Friday to begin the one and one half year construction project.

Bob Brant of Jay-Brant said he was able to find virtually all of the expertise needed for this complex project locally. Sub-contractors include Foster Construction of Soldotna, Evergreen Landscaping of Anchorage, Tri City
