Bird Walk

Join our bird walk, every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10 am - Noon, to discover, identify and revel in the aesthetics of the Bitterroot Valley landscape. All are welcome, the more eyes, the better the chances of finding cool wildlife...we don't ignore plants and other animals.

Led by Refuge staff and Audubon members - No Reservations required and free

The Refuge has recorded over 240 species of birds; this is no anomaly because the Refuge has good quality and variety of habitat open to the public. Times of day and year determine what species will be found; most likely every field trip will see different birds. We’ll help you learn how to identify the birds (and whatever else we encounter), and how to get the most out of binoculars and bird guides.

No special gear needed – just dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. The Refuge will provide loaner binoculars, guide books and spotting scopes for a quality birding experience.

Call (406) 777-5552 x203 or email bob_danley@fws.gov, Tuesday - Saturday 8 am - 4:30 pm with questions.
