Agricultural Opportunities on Waterfowl Production Areas (WPA)
Grazing
Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge and Wetland Management District, Pickstown, South Dakota has cooperative agriculture opportunities for grazing on Waterfowl Production Areas in Brule, Charles Mix, Douglas, and Aurora counties for 2023, see list below. Applications may be requested by calling the office at 605-487-7603. To be considered, applicants must complete and submit the bid form/application. Charles Mix: Eldridge, Trout, Tucek, Koupal, Owens Bay, Raysby, Varilek, Fousek, Kafka, and Novotny
Brule: Pipal
Aurora: Crystal Lake, Stanley, Overweg, Sorenson, and Althen
Douglas: Broken Arrow, New Holland, Star, Somek, and Kuil

Farming
Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge and Wetland Management District, Pickstown, South Dakota has cooperative agricultural opportunities for farming 48 acres on Varilek WPA in Charles Mix County for 2023. Applicants must complete and submit a bid sheet with a price for total years of each unit. Successful applicants will be ranked using a competitive bidding process.
