Two young adults racing across the snow in snow shoes, which resemble tennis rackets

Snowshoeing is a great way to get outside in the winter! Don't have your own pair of snowshoes? Check out a pair from the Visitor Center for free! Youth and adult sizes can be borrowed between 10AM and 3:30PM Wednesday through Saturday when we have more than three inches of snow. Snowshoes are loaned on a first come, first served basis, but we encourage you to call the Visitor Center (304-866-3858 x1612) to check if snowshoes are available for loan that day.

All refuge trails are open for snowshoeing with the exception of Freeland Boardwalk Trail. The Visitor Center Trail and Beall North Trail are great places to get your snowshoeing adventure started!
