The wealth of information presented in this website is the result of the dedication and passion of a team of fisheries enthusiasts. This project was envisioned and led by Dr. Alan Temple: he planned, traveled to remote locations to film and interview other experts, compiled information and created graphics for each gear type.

Bringing this project to completion required countless hours of planning, writing, filming, editing, and of course, fishing! However, Dr. Temple did not undertake this work alone; it was a collaborative effort involving a dedicated team.

We gratefully acknowledge everyone who contributed to this ambitious undertaking. Below is a list of some of the individuals involved, though it is by no means exhaustive.

Master Netmaker Greg Faulkner (https://www.fishtrawls.com/) generously shared his professional expertise and is prominently featured in several videos.

Ryan Hagerty, Brett Billings and Doug Canfield from the National Conservation Training Center’s Creative Resources Branch (US Fish and Wildlife Service) provided videography and editing support across multiple locations, including the Potomac and Missouri Rivers, and the Navajo Nation and Jicarilla Apache Reservation.

Some of the field experts include:

At the Navajo Nation and Jicarilla Apache Reservations (backpack and barge electrofishing): Jennifer Johnson (USFWS), Chris Kitcheyan (BIA), Jacob Mazzone and Vincent Tafoya (Jicarilla Apache Nation, Department of Game and Fish), Glenn Shelby (Navajo Nation, Department of Fish and Wildlife).

At the Potomac River: Josh Newhard (USFWS), boat electrofishing; Nathaniel Owens (WVDNR), trawling

At the Columbia Wish and Wildlife Office and Missouri River, current and former USFWS employees: Wyatt Doyle, Kevin Drews, Jeff Finley, Cody Henderson, Bryon Rochon, Zach Sanders, Jeremiah Smith.
