Quinault National Fish Hatchery is cooperatively managed with the Quinault Indian Nation. It has been in continuous operation since 1968. Located on Cook Creek, a Quinault River tributary within the Quinault Reservation, the hatchery rears winter steelhead, chum salmon and coho salmon. More than 3 million smolts (ocean-ready juveniles) are released annually into Cook Creek. The hatchery also provides rearing support for the Quinault Nation’s Lake Quinault and Salmon River hatchery steelhead programs. Bank fishing is allowed on the hatchery; a Quinault tribal guide is required and must be present while fishing. Consult www.quinaultindiannation.com for contacts and guide information. Peak fishing season is September-February.
