It's not our trash, but it is our planet! Celebrate the National Wildlife Refuges and help highlight their beauty! Come by and grab some gloves, trash bags, and head out at three of our most popular trailheads to pick up any trash. Every little bit helps keeps the trails clean for people and wildlife alike to enjoy for a long time to come! We will be at the Long Meadow Lake, Bass Ponds, and Old Cedar Avenue.

Activity Level: Easy-going, go at your own pace.
Meet Us: Three trailheads offered! Long Meadow Lake: Meet at the Bloomington Visitor Center main entrance. Bass Ponds: Meet at the lower trailhead. Old Cedar Avenue: Meet at the pavilion.
What to Bring: Water Bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, and sunglasses if you have them. Closed toed shoes are recommended.
Accessibility: Bloomington Visitor Center: Restrooms and water fountains are available inside the visitor center. Some portions of the trail are steep and have uneven tread.
Bass Ponds: Restrooms are located at the lower trailhead. Gate will be open for program for easy access to lower parking lot. This walk takes place on mostly flat ground on a paved service road, wooden boardwalks, and natural surface paths. Depending on seasonal trail conditions, natural surface paths may not be suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. There are no benches or rest areas along the route. Old Cedar Avenue: Restrooms and water are available at the Old Cedar Avenue pavilion and the pavilion is reachable by paved sidewalk. Optional self-guided walks take place on mostly flat ground on paved trails, wooden boardwalks and natural surface paths. Depending on seasonal trail conditions, natural surface paths may not be suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Very few benches or rest areas exist along the route, though the parking lot is a short distance away and provides a shaded seating area.
