Join us for the annual Dragonfly Festival at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge on September 12th, 2026. There will be plenty of free fun for wildlife enthusiasts and families alike to enjoy the movement of dragonflies through the area like presentation on Dragonflies Vs Damselflies (Sept 11, 2026, at 6:30pm), dragonfly and birding tours throughout the day (advanced reservations recommended), arts and crafts, refuge tours, live butterfly releases (12:00pm on the 12th, must reserve), children's scavenger hunts, and a wildlife education zone!
Tour Times:
- Dragonfly Tours: (Saturday Sept 12) 8:00-9:30am, 9:00-10:30am, 10:00-11:30am, 11:00am-12:30pm, 1:00-2:30pm, 2:00-3:30pm; (Sunday Sept 13) 9:00-10:30am, 10:00-11:30am, 12:00-1:30pm.
- Early Bird Tour: (Saturday Sept 12) 6:30-8:30am.
- Wildlife Tours: (Saturday Sept 12) 8:00-9:30am, 10:00-11:30am, 12:45-2:15pm, 3:00-4:30pm.
- Call to reserve placements in tours before the day of the tour, or there is no guarantee you will be able to join.
- Reptile Presentation (10am) and Live Bird Presentation (2pm) within the refuge Visitor Center.
