Erwin National Fish Hatchery named a Trout Unlimited Conservation Partner of the Year

Erwin National Fish Hatchery was selected as the 2022 Conservation Partner of the Year by the Overmountain Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The Overmountain chapter’s mission is conserving and restoring the Watauga, South Holston, & Nolichucky watersheds in Northeast Tennessee and has one of the largest Trout in the Classroom programs of any single chapter in the country. This chapter reaches over 600 students every year, varying in grade from 1st to 12th. Erwin National Fish Hatchery supplies the Overmountain Chapter of TU and the many schools they support with high quality trout eggs and outreach to support this program. Students that are lucky enough to be a part of a class that participates in this program learn about a trout’s life cycle and the importance of the conserving high quality habitats they need to survive. Erwin NFH staff thank the Overmountain Chapter for this prestigious honor and recognition of our longtime partnership bringing conservation into the classroom together. We look forward to working with this group for many years to come!
