U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Hold Public Open House on Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment for Sullys Hill National Game Preserve

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will hold an open house at the Sullys Hill National Game Preserve Visitor Center in Fort Totten, ND, On July 22, 2008, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The purpose of this open house is to invite comments from the public on the draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment for the Sullys Hill National Game Preserve.

The National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997 requires that all refuges be managed in accordance with an approved CCP which, when implemented, will achieve refuge purposes; help fulfill the Refuge System mission; maintain and, where appropriate, restore the ecological integrity of each refuge and the Refuge System; and meet other mandates. The CCP will guide management decisions and set forth goals, objectives, and strategies for the refuge to accomplish these tasks over a fifteen year time frame.

A short presentation will be made on the draft plan for Sullys Hill, including the proposed actions contained in the plan. The public is invited to offer their comments, which will be collected and presented to the planning team for consideration. For directions to the visitor center, please call the district headquarters at (701) 662-8611.
