2006-2007 FEDERAL & JUNIOR DUCK STAMPS FIRST DAY OF SALE THURSDAY, JUNE 1

The Service will hold a special ceremony to mark the first day of sale for the 2006-2007 Federal and Junior Duck stamps at the Washington 2006 World Philatelic Exhibition.

The ceremony will feature, Service Director H. Dale Hall, Sherrie Russell Meline, the Federal Duck Stamp artist, Rebekah Nastav, the 2006 Junior Duck Stamp artist, and Paul Schmidt, Assistant Service Director for Migratory Birds. Pat Moore, Washington, DC Postmaster will sell the ceremonial first Duck Stamp to the Service Director.

Created in 1934 as the federal fee required for hunting migratory waterfowl, Federal Duck Stamps also serve as a vital tool for wetland conservation. Ninety-eight cents out of every dollar generated by the sales of Federal Duck Stamps goes directly to purchase or lease wetland habitat for the National Wildlife Refuge System.
