About Matthew Padgett

Matt Padgett is a Biological Science Technician at Erwin National Fish Hatchery. Matt, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, received his BS in Fisheries Science, 2012, and MS, 2018, from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN. After school Matt worked a season in Great Smoky Mountains National Park before becoming a biological science technician at Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery in 2015. Matt gained valuable experience with production trout processes during his time at Dale Hollow NFH and is now applying that experience to the brood stock management program. He brings special skills in mussel propagation using cage culture and caring for imperiled fishes such as the Barrens top minnow.
