Children into birding and very focused on finding and identifying birds on the bird walk during a camping trip

There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching at the refuge, whether it be during migrating or breeding season. If you don't have your own binoculars, just borrow a pair from our visitor center during normal business hours and head out to an overlook to spot great blue herons, Canada geese, or even a bald eagle. On our wooded trails you may spot orioles, woodpeckers and a variety of warblers. Refuge trails and overlooks are open sunrise to sunset.

Check out our refuge e-bird list for information on seasonal occurrence and abundances of bird species the refuge.
