Okefenokee State Park is the western entrance to Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge near Fargo, Georgia. Formerly known as Stephen C. Foster State Park, the park is an access point to the refuge and provides visitors with opportunities to explore the refuge's unique natural and cultural resources.
Established in 1954, the park is managed through a long-term lease agreement between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Okefenokee State Park is also a certified International Dark Sky Park, making it an exceptional place for stargazing and experiencing the night sky.
The park offers campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs, as well as cottage rentals. Visitors can enjoy guided boat tours, canoe rentals, paddling, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, birdwatching, nature photography, stargazing, and more.
