Natural and Improved Waterholes at Kofa National Wildlife Refuge in 1949

A large pool of water in the center, partially obscured to the camera by a sloping natural rock wall on the left. Another natural rock wall (perhaps part of the aforementioned wall) rises behind the pool. Atop the wall (or at least visible just beyond it) is the top of a medium-sized dam; two people stand atop the dam wall. Setting is a desert environment, with low desert vegetation in the foreground, as well as growing atop the rocky ridgelines on either side on the horizon.
