A Plan for Restoring Lahontan Cutthroat Trout

In 2019, Lahontan cutthroat trout interagency recovery partners collaboratively created and developed the Updated Goals and Objectives (UGOs), to guide conservation of the trout using the best available science and methods available. The UGOs are part of the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Recovery Plan and reflect our current understanding of the trout’s biology, and its habitat requirements and greatest threats: non-native trout and habitat loss.

The UGOs create a roadmap for range-wide recovery and identify quantifiable criteria to remove the species from the ESA. However, they do not prescribe where to complete restoration and land management actions, as recovery partners believe land management actions are best identified at the local level.
