Species that are considered uncertain risk need a more in-depth assessment beyond the Risk Summary to better define the species’ risk to U.S. environments.
Trichomycterus caliensis is a catfish native to two river basins in Colombia. The species is cryptic and feeds on aquatic insects. It has not been introduced outside of its native range. Without being able to observe introductions in other parts of the world, it is impossible to know the potential impacts of introduction of T. caliensis to the U.S. Climate match to the contiguous U.S. is low overall, with medium match occurring on the Atlantic coast of Florida. The species is listed as prohibited in Florida. Overall risk posed by T. caliensis is uncertain.
