Hypostomus isbrueckeri is a suckermouth catfish native to the middle and upper Uruguay River basin. It has not been reported as introduced or established outside its native range, although unidentified members of the genus are currently established in the U.S. H. isbrueckeri has a medium climate match with the contiguous United States.
