Eastern tiger salamander larvae at Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery in Yukton, South Dakota. In December, adults emerge on rainy nights and migrate to vernal pools to breed. By March, adults return to upland burrows. Eggs hatch in 30 days, larvae remain in pool feeding on zooplankton and invertabrates.
Species
