Winter Wonderland Photo Hike

Join us for an early morning photo hike to capture the winter light at the refuge. This location provides some fantastic winter scenes. During the hike, Don will discuss camera settings, and help with subject selection and composition tips. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome.

Date and Time: Saturday, January 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Location: Old Cedar Avenue Trailhead - 9551 Old Cedar Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55425

Registration Information: No registration required.

Activity Level: Easy-active, we will walk slowly and make frequent stops.

Meet Us: Meet us at the Old Cedar Avenue pavilion.

What to Bring: Bring a camera with spare batteries. This program will be held outdoors, please dress for the weather. Bring extra warm clothing and traction device for footwear. The trails can be slippery.

Accessibility: A portable restroom is available at the Old Cedar Avenue pavilion. This walk takes place on mostly flat ground on paved trails, wooden boardwalks and natural surface paths. Depending on seasonal trail conditions, natural surface paths may not be suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Very few benches or rest areas exist along the route, though the parking lot is a short distance away and the pavilion provides a shaded seating area.

Program Leader: This program is led by Volunteer Naturalist Don Tredinnick of Frozen Hiker Photography. Don leads six free photography programs a year at the refuge.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is committed to providing access to this event for all participants. Please direct all requests for sign language interpreting services, closed captioning or other accommodation needs to MinnesotaValley@fws.gov by close of business on Friday, December 9.
