Weekend Whittler: Craft Your Own Stick Bait Lure (ages 17+)

During a workshop at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, participants will connect to the legacy of lure-making. Participants will learn some lure-making history in the region and the basic types of top water lures. Participants will then whittle their own top water stick bait lure. After that, participants will learn some simple biology about northern pike, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass like their diet and habitat. The workshop will wrap-up with participants wood burning designs onto the body of their lure and attaching hook hardware.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Registration is required via Eventbrite. There is a limit to 10 people total.
  • Age requirement is 17 years and up only
  • All supplies are provided
