Night Surf Fishing is an annual activity at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Anglers may fish on the wildlife refuge beach until midnight during the month of October with a Special Use Permit. This program provides a unique opportunity to fish the wildlife refuge beach after dark during the time of year when large red drum move down the coast.
To purchase a Special Use Permit for this activity anglers must bring the following.
- $35.00, cash or check (made out to "U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service")
- Fishing license, or Fisherman Identification Program number
- Photo ID

- September 17: 9:00am - 1:00pm
- September 18: 11:00am - 3:00pm
- September 23: 9:00am - 1:00pm
- September 26: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
- September 30: 9:00am - 1:00pm
- October 1: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
- October 2: 12:30pm - 4:00pm
- October 4: 8:30am - 11:00pm
- October 8: 8:30am - 3:00pm
- October 9: 12:30pm - 3:00pm
- October 10: 8:30am - 3:00pm
