Allen Van Brunt, Friends board member and St. Marks Lighthouse Keeper, will present April's Second Sunday Talk titled “New Ways to Tell the St. Marks Story.”
The talk will explore the current methods of storytelling at the Lighthouse, which rely on static displays featuring photographs, printed content, and objects, supplemented by interpreter-provided information. Mr. Van Brunt has been investigating modern technology to enhance the visitor experience by repurposing existing content into video, audio, and other languages.
His proposed methods involve: 1) utilizing translation software to convert content into multiple languages, 2) employing video generating software for Lighthouse clips, and 3) implementing audio generating software for image descriptions.
Mr. Van Brunt will present and demonstrate the following content delivery methods: Lighthouse avatars, translated content, generated video clips, and generated audio clips.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Thirty-five seats are available for online pre-registration. An additional 10 seats will be available for those who arrive without pre-registering.
