Explore mysteries of monarch migration; learn how to invite gentle pollinators, including butterflies, to your balcony, deck, patio, property. More info: https://www.friendsofpatuxent.org. Presenters include:
- Monarch Magic with Barrie Hershkowitz, Monarch Education and Montessori teacher (retired)
- Nurturing Natives with Esther Bonney, co-founder of the youth-led nonprofit "Nurture Natives" (www.nurturenatives.org), based in Maryland.
- Pollinator Habitats, from Balconies to Decks and Beyond, workshop with Elmer Dengler, BS in Environmental Resource Management, and 34 years with USDA/NRCS. Currently manages five pollinator gardens for the City of Bowie. Dengler was also a Research Associate for Dr. Urquhart, the scientist featured in the intriguing Flight of the Butterflies film (to be shown at this event), about the 40-year search that led to the discovery of the monarch butterfly overwintering grounds in Mexico.
