Fishing Clinic at Desoto National Wildlife Refuge

Join us at the refuge an upcoming fishing clinic at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge. Fishing Clinic - Saturday July 26th, at 9:00 am at the South Gate Recreation Area of DeSoto Lake. Come to DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge to participate in a fishing clinic led by a refuge volunteer who is also a certified Nebraska Youth Fishing Instructor. The fishing clinic kicks off on Saturday, July 26th at 9:00 a.m. at the South Gate Recreation Area. Fishing rods and bait provided courtesy of the Friends of Boyer Chute and DeSoto. Participants are also welcome to bring their own fishing gear. No registration is required, just meet up at our South Gate Recreation Area near the handicap accessible fishing dock. Kid’s younger than 16 can fish without a license. Participants aged 16 and older will need a valid Iowa or Nebraska fishing license to participate. Please be aware if planning a visit during this weekend that the Hwy 30 Missouri River bridge will be closed due to ongoing bridgework. There will be no issues accessing the refuge from the Iowa side on Hwy 30 but you will not be able to access the main entrance crossing over river from Blair, Nebraska Make sure to check Iowa or Nebraska DOT website for updated information if planning a visit to the refuge during the ongoing roadwork to figure out best route.
