This Earth Day weekend, join Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, the Friends of the 500th, and the Central Appalachian Spruce Restoration Initiative for a tree planting event bringing a biologically important forest back into Canaan Valley!
The planting will take place off the Farm View Trail. Please meet at the Beall Trailhead parking area, address: Co Rte 35/18, Canaan Heights, WV 26260. Equipment and refreshments will be provided, but we recommend packing some work gloves and water.
Accessibility information:
There will be a short walk from the parking area to the planting site, please wear sturdy shoes. The planting area may have portions of uneven terrain. There are no facilities at the planting site, but the Visitor Center just a short drive away will be open. For more information, reach out to us at cannanvalley@fws.gov.
